You will seek Me and find Me when you search for me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13
I love those who love me,
Proverbs 8:17
and those who seek me early shall find me.
In John 18:38, the Roman governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate, who was responsible for considering whether to free Jesus or give Him up to be crucified, asked Jesus “What is truth?”. This is a question which has likely been asked by many like Pontius Pilate who don’t have God granted understanding of what greater depths of truth are, but the question has also been asked by Christians including some who teach and apply an allegorical hermeneutic* (*The means of interpreting the Word of God) which permits the understanding of scripture to be subject to the readers perception rather than by considering the passage within guidelines of a Literal, Grammatical, Historical, Contextual, Comparative (comparing scripture with scripture) hermeneutic. The literal aspect of understanding scripture isn’t applied to the whole of scripture as there are metaphors, similes, parables and like text to consider such as for example Revelation 12:3 “And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.”, where these portions of scripture need to be compared with other scriptures to understand what these images represent, for example when you consider v3 then read v9 the answer is confirmed “So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world;“.
Jesus told the disciples: “I am the way, the truth, and the life…“, He has only revealed Himself to those the Father has given Him. Some think He was just a good man, some a prophet, consider Mark 4:11-12 He replied, “The mystery of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to those on the outside everything is expressed in parables, so that, ‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding;…”
Matthew 20:32-33
Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want Me to do for you?” He asked. “Lord,” they answered, “LET OUR EYES BE OPENED.”
Act 16:14 Among those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. THE LORD OPENED HER HEART TO RESPOND to Paul’s message.
Luke 24:45 Then HE OPENED THEIR MINDS TO UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURES.
Luke 11: 10 For everyone who asks receives; HE WHO SEEKS FINDS; and TO HIM WHO KNOCKS, THE DOOR WILL be opened.
Luke 11:11-14
What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, HOW MUCH MORE WILL YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN GIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO THOSE WHO ASK HIM!”
John 16:13 “However, when the SPIRIT OF TRUTH comes, HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH.”
Holy Spirit has come, and He reveals Christ in the form of Truth, The Word of God, but Jesus’s blessings through revelation of Himself and the Father don’t stop at the initial point of salvation, He desires that His children grow to full maturity through understanding of the Truth.
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-14
Truth is not subjective, He divides between Spirit and soul, He reveals and glorifies God. Truth sustains hope, peace and certainty past the last breath:
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
John 14:9 KJV —
John 8:32 KJV — And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
